This photo was taken at a nature reserve. It had been raining heavily earlier and the lighting was bad, not to mention the lack of subjects available- plus lots of mosquitoes. After that, the rain stopped and the sun came out- along with all the insects. This particular fly was very active, it would not stay at the same spot for longer then a few seconds, even to feed on its prey (a smaller fly).
I liked the brilliant green colour and had to hurry snap a shot before it flew off again. It was only when I reviewed the photos later did I notice the smaller fly it had caught in its jaws.
